Nashville State to open satellite campus in county
Classes for the fall semester begins Aug. 29 and will be held in the annex building on Elizabeth Street teaching in Ashland City."This reinforces the importance of continuing education in Cheatham County," Webb said of the decision of Nashville State.
Nashville State plans to offer two to four courses in the evening to begin, and they will probably be the basic courses such as English or mathematics. These details are still being developed, according to the director.
"Currently, we surveyed our teachers (those with a master's degree) to see if they want to be an assistant professor, and we'll build around it," said Webb.
The director said Nashville State took interest in Cheatham County because so many residents here are already underway at the location on White Bridge Road in Nashville. The college also operates satellite campuses in other surrounding counties, including Dickson and Humphreys.
"The next logical progression was here," said Webb. "We just need to make sure we fill the classroom to keep them here."
In addition to the campus of Nashville State satellite, the annex building will also house the educational program of the Tennessee Technology Center LPN, now in its second year. Education classes for adults will also continue to be held in the building.
The alternative school will be moved to the vocational training center to Cheatham County Central High School when school resumes in August. This movement will release four classes, according to Webb.
