An old-car collection brings fun, but its work, too.
Don Whitsett, seated behind the wheel of a cream-and-green 1954 Kaiser Manhattan, knows this well.
Whitsett, who lives off River Road, has his eight cars and trucks in his driveway. Several, including the Kaiser Manhattan, are collectibles.

Whitsett, who regularly volunteers at the Pebble Beach Concours dElegance, erected two big tents at home to protect his vehicles. It didnt help, he said.
Nine years ago, he and his wife moved into a 100-year-old farmhouse in the Ranchito Road area off River Road. The valley air proved drier and gentler on old car bodies.
The vehicles now parked in the Whitsett driveway form an eclectic mix.
Besides his 39 Ford truck, hes got the 54 Kaiser Manhattan, which he inherited from his dad.
